COST BENEFIT (GB) (f, 3, Dansili {GB}–Forgotten Dreams {Ire}, by Olden Times {GB}) took the lion's share of the pari-mutuel action at 8-5 and got her nose down ahead of her Peter Brant-owned stable companion Dovima (Union Rags) to open her account at first asking. A bit keyed up in the preliminaries, Cost Benefit broke alertly and aggressively tugged Joel Rosario to the front through an opening quarter-mile in :23.02 and a half in :46.51. Still traveling strongly, but not overracing, after six furlongs in 1:10.10, Cost Benefit was asked to sprint three-sixteenths of a mile from home and just held off a late dive from Dovima. The latter sat an inside trip, popped out into the three path approaching the lane and just missed. The rail-rallying Windfall Profit (Malibu Moon) finished a close third. Bought back on a bid of 65,000gns when offered by Fittocks Stud as a weanling at Tattersalls in late 2017, Cost Benefit was snapped up for 40,000gns from the Highclere Stud draft at Tattersalls October the following fall. The Jan. 23 foal is out of a half-sister to Italian G1SW and GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf third Zomaradah (GB) (Deploy {GB}), whose legacy has since been cemented by her superstar stallion son Dubawi (Ire) (Dubai Millennium {GB}). Zomaradah is also the dam of GSW Emirates Queen (GB) (Street Cry {Ire}) and SW & GSP Princess Nada (GB) (Barathea {Ire}). The further female family includes 1998 G1 Epsom Derby hero High-Rise (Ire) (High Estate {Ire}). Other Tattersalls purchases made by Mike Ryan on behalf of Seth Klarman's operation include GISW Newspaperofrecord (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}, 200,000gns '17 TATOCT); and GSW Digital Age (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}, 325,000gns '17 TATOCT). Sales history: 65,000gns RNA Wlg '17 TATFOA; 40,000gns Ylg '18 TATOCT. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $35,200. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
